How to get redstone in Homestead

Every redstone ore on the server drops Rough Cinnabar when you mine it without Silk Touch. Redstone dust comes out of the Rough Cinnabar.

• Mine redstone ore with an iron pickaxe or better. Each block drops one or two Rough Cinnabar, more with Fortune.
• Place a Grindstone and right-click it while holding the Rough Cinnabar. Each click uses one and gives one to three redstone, a Cinnabar and some experience.
• With Create, put Rough Cinnabar through Crushing Wheels for three redstone each, with a one in four chance of a fourth.
• A Diamond Grindstone gives two to four redstone per Rough Cinnabar.

Keep the Cinnabar. Crushing Wheels turn one into a redstone with a 75% chance of a second, and it goes into the Item Magnet, the Lodestone and the Compression Blast Miner. A Silk Touch redstone ore smelted in a furnace gives one redstone. Rough Cinnabar and Nether Quartz in a two by two grid craft two Rose Quartz, which saves the eight redstone Create's own recipe asks for.

Ores in granite, andesite, diorite and tuff

Where an ore deposit runs into granite, andesite, diorite or tuff, the ore takes that stone: you find Granite Redstone Ore, Tuff Diamond Ore and so on, for coal, iron, copper, gold, redstone, lapis, emerald and diamond, and for Create's zinc. They drop what the stone or deepslate ore drops. Homestead keeps Minecraft's patches of those stones, so the variants turn up in the same caves you already mine.

Deepslate and tuff

The deepslate and tuff redstone ores add three to six Rough Cinnabar Shards on top of the Rough Cinnabar. Deepslate Diamond Ore adds up to two Rough Diamond Shards. Nine shards craft one rough gem.

Metal ores

Deepslate metal ores drop raw nuggets beside the raw ore. Deepslate Iron Ore gives one to four Raw Iron Nuggets, or with a 12.5% chance a Raw Magnetite Nugget.

Cinnabar veins

At the bottom of the world, from y -59, Spelunkery lays veins of Calcite Redstone Ore and Blocks of Rough Cinnabar that branch like wiring. A Block of Rough Cinnabar drops itself and crafts into nine Rough Cinnabar.

No experience from the ore

Redstone, lapis, emerald and diamond ores drop no experience while rough gems are on. The experience comes when you polish the gem.

Polishing rough gems on a grindstone

Hold the rough gem and right-click a placed Grindstone. Each click uses one item and drops the result into your inventory. An empty hand opens the Grindstone's usual menu. Shards do not polish: craft nine into a whole rough gem first.

Rough Cinnabar

One Cinnabar, one to three redstone and one to three experience orbs. On a Diamond Grindstone, two to four redstone.

Rough Lazurite

One or two Lapis Lazuli, up to two Raw Gold Nuggets and up to five experience orbs. On a Diamond Grindstone, one to three nuggets.

Rough Diamond and Rough Emerald

Only on a Diamond Grindstone. One Diamond or Emerald and two to four experience orbs. On a plain Grindstone the click just opens the menu.

Rock Salt

One to three Salt.

Lapis Lazuli

One to three Blue Dye. Keep lapis out of your hand when you click a grindstone.

Create's Sand Paper polishes any rough gem into the gem without a grindstone, with none of the extra redstone, nuggets or experience.

The Diamond Grindstone

The Diamond Grindstone is the only grindstone that polishes Rough Diamonds and Rough Emeralds, and it gives more from the other gems. The quest Shiny Side Up in The First Sprout asks you to build one and polish a diamond on it.

• Craft it from two Rough Diamond Shards, two sticks, a Polished Deepslate Slab and two planks.
• The shards come from Deepslate Diamond Ore, or from your first Rough Diamond crafted into nine.
• Each polish on it has a one in 64 chance on this server to wear the coating a step. After the third step it polishes like a plain Grindstone.
• Sneak and right-click it with a Rough Diamond Shard or a Diamond Shard to restore the coating.

Diamonds, emeralds and lapis

Diamond

Diamond ores drop one Rough Diamond, more with Fortune. Deep down, Spelunkery also places Blocks of Rough Diamond right beside lava. Homestead's own datapack makes those single blocks, where the mod alone places up to four.

Emerald

Emerald ores drop one Rough Emerald, more with Fortune. The mod's wiki puts large emerald veins of Andesite Emerald Ore and Rough Emerald Blocks in mountains.

Lapis

Lapis ores drop one to three Rough Lazurite, more with Fortune. Deserts hide large veins of Sandstone Lapis Ore, gold ore and Rough Lazurite Blocks.

Dimensional Tears: a drink that takes you home

A Bottle o' Dimensional Tears sends you to your spawn point when you drink it, from any dimension. It also lights a Nether portal like flint and steel.

• On this server you fill it by using an empty Glass Bottle on a charged Respawn Anchor. Crying Obsidian does not work here, the server's config turns that off.
• Pour bottles into a cauldron to fill it with the fluid, then take it with a bucket for a Bucket of Dimensional Tears.
• A player who touches the fluid goes to their spawn point. Any other creature goes to the world spawn.
• The quest Anchored in the End in Echoes of the Void gives a bottle and a bucket for crafting a Respawn Anchor.

Salt

Rock Salt forms in stripes and clusters high up in mountains. Polish it on a Grindstone for one to three Salt, or smelt a Water Bucket in a furnace for a Salt Bucket.

• Placed on the ground, salt makes piles and lines that undead mobs cannot cross. Rain and running water wash it away.
• Four Salt or Saltpeter around a Rotten Flesh craft Leather.
• Spelunkery's Salt also counts as salt in Meadow's cooking recipes and in Hexalia's.
• Right-click a water cauldron that sits over a fire or campfire with Salt to boil it into Rock Salt.

Caving tools

Mine-o-mite

Paper, clay and gunpowder craft three Mine-o-mite. Place or throw a stick, light it with flint and steel, and it blows up a few seconds later. Up to nine fit in one block, and more sticks make a bigger blast.

Rope Ladder

Four Tangle Roots and three sticks make eight Rope Ladders. Right-click a hanging ladder with another to extend it down, with no wall needed behind it.

Parachute

Carry a Parachute and it opens by itself when you fall from a deadly height. Fold it again after you land.

Glowstick

A slime ball, a glow ink sac (or a Phosphor Fungus or Mushgloom) and a stick make four Glowsticks. Place them anywhere or throw them, under water too.

Depth Gauge and compasses

The Depth Gauge shows your height. The Magnetic Compass points north, or at a magnetite block nearby. The Tuning Fork finds amethyst geodes.

Hammer and Chisel

Hold right-click with a Flint Hammer and Chisel to break a pickaxe block as if with Silk Touch, up to stone tier. The obsidian one reaches diamond tier.

Homestead removes the crafting recipe for the Iron Pick on a Stick.
