The best armor in the Homestead modpack

Every armor set, ranked

Armor is the full set, with the helmet, chestplate, leggings and boots under it. Toughness is on each piece. Durability is per piece in the same order. Sets with the same armor are ordered by toughness, then by durability.

Knockback resistance only reaches you when the mod adds it in its own code. Minecraft 1.20.1 gives it to netherite's own material and to nothing else, so the 10% a piece that Mythic Upgrades and Clutter's silver declare, and Obsidian's 5%, never apply. Advanced Netherite and Deeper and Darker add theirs themselves, and it works.

Obsidian's chestplate gives six points and its leggings eight, the other way round from diamond, because the mod reads its own figures in a different order from the game. The total is the same 20.

How to get Netherite-Diamond armor

Advanced Netherite is four tiers above netherite, and each tier is made from the one below it. You cannot skip a tier: the recipe for each piece takes only the piece one tier down.

1. Make a netherite piece the usual way: a diamond or obsidian piece, a Netherite Ingot and a Netherite Upgrade template at a Smithing Table.
2. Craft a Netherite-Iron Ingot from a Netherite Ingot and four iron ingots, then smith it onto the netherite piece with another Netherite Upgrade template.
3. Craft a Netherite-Gold Ingot from a Netherite-Iron Ingot and four gold ingots, and smith it onto the Netherite-Iron piece.
4. Craft a Netherite-Emerald Ingot from a Netherite-Gold Ingot and four emeralds, and smith it onto the Netherite-Gold piece.
5. Craft a Netherite-Diamond Ingot from a Netherite-Emerald Ingot and four diamonds, and smith it onto the Netherite-Emerald piece for the Netherite-Diamond Chestplate or any other piece.

Each step needs its own Netherite Upgrade template, and each tier's ingot starts from a fresh Netherite Ingot. Taking a full netherite set to Netherite-Diamond costs 16 templates, 16 Netherite Ingots, 64 iron ingots, 48 gold ingots, 32 emeralds and 16 diamonds.

Netherite Upgrade templates are found in bastion chests. Seven diamonds and a block of netherrack copy one into two, so the templates are where most of the diamonds go.

You can stop at any tier: Netherite-Iron already beats netherite, and Netherite-Gold and Netherite-Emerald give the same armor as Warden with a little less toughness.

How to get Warden armor

Warden armor comes from the Otherside, the dimension Deeper and Darker adds. It goes on netherite and gives 24 points with four toughness on each piece.

1. Find Warden Carapace in the Otherside's ancient temples, in their apex and basement chests and in ancient vases.
2. Craft a Reinforced Echo Shard from four Warden Carapace, an Echo Shard and four Phantom Membranes. Echo Shards are in ancient city chests and the same temples.
3. Take the Warden Upgrade template from the secret chest of an ancient temple. Seven diamonds and a block of Sculk copy one into two.
4. At a Smithing Table, put in the template, a netherite piece and the shard for the Warden Chestplate or another piece.

A full set takes 16 Warden Carapace, four Echo Shards, 16 Phantom Membranes and four templates. It is one tier above netherite, where Netherite-Diamond is four, so it is quicker to finish if you can survive the Otherside.

How to get Mythic Upgrades armor

Mythic gem armor keeps netherite's 20 points, three toughness and durability, and adds its gem's ability. It loses netherite's knockback resistance (see the note under the table).

1. Craft a gem ingot, such as a Ruby Ingot, from four gems and four Necoium Ingots.
2. Get a Mythic Upgrade Smithing Template: craft two from a Netherite Upgrade template, seven Necoium Ingots and a Block of Necoium, or find one in an End City.
3. At a Smithing Table, put in the template, a netherite piece (or another gem's piece) and the gem ingot.

Where the other sets come from

Netherite

A diamond or obsidian piece, a Netherite Ingot (four Netherite Scrap and four gold ingots) and a Netherite Upgrade template at a smithing table.

Obsidian

A diamond piece, an Obsidian Ingot (obsidian in a blast furnace) and an Obsidian Upgrade template. The template is a chance find in bastions (one in five in treasure chests), Nether fortresses, ancient cities, strongholds, mineshafts and ruined portals, and seven diamonds and a block of obsidian copy one into two.

Moonweave

A Silkweave piece taken through one of Hexalia's celestial rituals with a Celestial Crystal, Silk Fiber and two diamonds, with a Phantom Membrane for the hood and mantle and a feather for the footwraps.

Silkweave

Crafted around a leather piece with Silk Fiber and wool, and string for all but the hood.

Resonarium

An iron piece and a Resonarium Plate at a smithing table. A plate is four Resonarium, dropped by Sludge, and four scutes.

Silver

Crafted like iron armor from Clutter's Silver Ingots.

Chainmail

No recipe. It turns up in chests, such as a stronghold's armoury, and as a gift from an armorer after a raid.

Set bonuses and effects

Netherite-Iron

Phantoms leave you alone. One piece is enough.

Netherite-Gold

Piglins stay calm, as with gold armor. One piece is enough.

Netherite-Emerald

Endermen do not turn on you when you look at them. One piece is enough.

Netherite-Diamond

All three: phantoms, piglins and endermen.

Warden

The helmet clears Blindness and Darkness, and the leggings make you faster.

Mythic gems

Each piece adds levels to its gem's ability: two for the helmet and boots, three for the chestplate and leggings, ten for a full set. Pieces of two gems give both abilities at lower levels.

Moonweave

10% magic resistance a piece, and another 10% for a full set: 50% in all.

Silkweave

5% magic resistance a piece, and the same 10% for a full set. Mixing Silkweave and Moonweave pieces still counts as a full set.

Obsidian, diamond, netherite

Nothing beyond their figures.

The eight gems' armor abilities. Every level of each is in our Mythic Upgrades guide.

• Aquamarine: Ice Shield, which freezes whoever hits you in melee.
• Citrine: Static Field, which hurts everything near you every second.
• Topaz: a shock wave each time you are hit, and less fall damage.
• Peridot: Miasma, a poison cloud every ten seconds, and immunity to poison.
• Ruby: Blood Thirst, which heals you from damage dealt around you.
• Sapphire: Damage Deflection, which sends part of the damage you take back.
• Jade: Jade Aura, for more speed and higher jumps.
• Ametrine: Arcane Aura, which lifts everything around you when you are hit.

The best weapons and tools

The same order holds for weapons. The Netherite-Diamond Sword hits for 11, three more than netherite, and lasts 3,092 uses. Every sword below swings at the same speed.

Advanced Netherite's pickaxes are where the gap is widest: the Netherite-Diamond Pickaxe mines at a speed of 39 where netherite mines at nine, before Efficiency. The figures are the mod's own, fixed in its code.
