Homestead 2.0: what's new and how to update

Homestead 2.0 came out on 22 October 2026, and its authors call it the pack's last content update. It adds 19 mods and datapacks, takes eight out, stretches the day to forty minutes and brings new questlines for horses and the bakery. A 1.3.7 world can be updated. Move everything out of Storage Drawers and Iron Chests: Restocked into Sophisticated Storage first, or those items are gone.

2.0 is the update the authors announced as Homestead's final content update. Bug fixes and hotfixes keep coming, and the team has said its next work is a new pack. The CurseForge file carries the full changelog.

What changed in the game

  • A day now lasts 25 minutes and a night 15, forty minutes in all where vanilla takes twenty. Better Days does it, and sleeping makes time run faster until morning.
  • Icy's Better Horses makes horses smarter, faster and upgradeable, with a new questline to go with it.
  • Let's Do: Bakery joins the other Let's Do mods with breads, cupcakes and cakes, and a Bread & Butter questline.
  • The End changed: Endercon reworks how it generates, Echoes of The End adds structures there, Dyed End adds End stone bricks in every colour, and the End Ocean of the Dimensional Tears is gone because it lagged.
  • Streams Reflowing puts flowing streams in the land, and ColoredWater adds coloured water and cauldrons.
  • Soundscape reworks the jukebox and adds ambience discs. Tokimi's Boatyard adds upgradeable boats with more speed and storage.
  • Obsidian Equipment Reworked now sets the order of diamond, obsidian and netherite gear.
  • Mystical Berries grow in Lush Caves, so the Mystical Elk can be tamed without the trader. Spring Water can be an infinite source.
  • Several early quests have to be done in order again, from First Sprout to Portable Life. The quest book has a new look, a What's New page and more tips.
  • Farmer's Delight rich soil gives crops a bigger boost (0.8 where it was 0.2), Vinery's winemaker gear lasts longer and hat bags turn up less often.
  • The quest book is now also in Hungarian, Bulgarian, Russian and Ukrainian.

The 19 new mods

Compared mod by mod with the 1.3.7 file, these 19 are new. Two more were already in 1.3.7 as loose jars and now come from CurseForge: Simple Discord RPC and Mob Explosion Griefing Gamerule.

Every mod in Homestead 2.0

Removed and updated

These eight are gone. Their blocks and items disappear from a world that is loaded on 2.0.

68 of the mods from CurseForge changed version, and four of the jars the pack carries itself. 266 stayed exactly as they were. Fabric went from 0.18.4 to 0.19.5. The shader packs of four projects that 1.3.7 downloaded from CurseForge now come inside the pack.

How to update a 1.3.7 world to 2.0

  1. Back up the world

Copy the world folder somewhere outside the instance: saves and your world's name in singleplayer, world on a server. If anything goes wrong you load 1.3.7 again with that copy.

  2. Empty Storage Drawers and Iron Chests: Restocked

Still on 1.3.7, move everything they hold into Sophisticated Storage chests or barrels, which stay in 2.0. The drawers and iron chests vanish with whatever is in them. If all your storage is Sophisticated Storage already, there is nothing to do.

  3. Take what you need off Eldritch End gear

Eldritch End is removed, armour and tools included. The authors advise taking the enchantments off anything of it you care about and not wearing it as your main set when you update.

  4. Accept that Copper Age Backport goes

Its blocks and items disappear and cannot be saved. Vanilla Backport stays in the pack and still brings the trial chambers.

  5. Update the pack

In the CurseForge app, open Homestead's profile and change the version to 2.0. On a server, the authors' steps are: delete the old config, mods, kubejs, scripts and patchouli_books folders, copy the same folders from the 2.0 server pack, and leave world alone. Run startserver.sh or startserver.bat once, because it downloads eight jars CurseForge won't let the pack include.

  6. Load the world

Open it on 2.0 and check your chests, your quests and your animals before you play on. Land you explored stays as it was; chunks you haven't been to yet generate with the new terrain.

If you want to keep Storage Drawers or Iron Chests: Restocked, the authors say you can: update to 2.0, add the mod back to the instance (and to the server), and only then load the world. Your items stay where they are.

Do you need a new world?

Not required. The authors recommend a new world, because many of the biome and world generation mods were added or updated and a fresh map shows all of it. A world you keep gets the new terrain only in chunks nobody has loaded yet, so you see it by travelling further out.

Structures and biomes from the new mods, such as Echoes of The End's structures, appear only in newly generated land too.

Play 2.0 on a server that is already running it

Our Homestead world starts on 2.0, so there is nothing to migrate and nothing to lose. It is being prepared and opens soon: the land is generated ahead, 5,000 blocks out in every direction and 1,250 in the Nether, so exploring doesn't lag the server. The world's page has the address and the state of the server.

Land is claimed with Open Parties and Claims and the quest book is shared through FTB Teams. Playing Homestead with friends explains both, and the full mod list shows everything 2.0 runs.

Who makes Homestead

Homestead is made by Tokimi and Meleon of CozyStudios. Its home is the CurseForge page, the official Homestead wiki has the authors' own guides, and their Discord is where to ask them about the pack.

Questions

Is Homestead 2.0 Fabric or Forge?

Fabric. 2.0 runs on Minecraft 1.20.1 with Fabric loader 0.19.5. The CurseForge app installs the right loader with the pack.

Which Java version does Homestead 2.0 need?

Java 17 or newer, which every Minecraft 1.20.1 pack needs. The server pack's README suggests Eclipse Temurin, and its start script stops with a message if it finds an older Java.

Can I keep Storage Drawers in Homestead 2.0?

Yes. The authors say you can update to 2.0, put Storage Drawers or Iron Chests: Restocked back into the mods folder, and then load the world, and your items stay. If you don't add them back, move everything into Sophisticated Storage before updating.

Do I need a new world for Homestead 2.0?

No. A 1.3.7 world loads on 2.0 once Storage Drawers and Iron Chests: Restocked are empty. The authors recommend a new one because the new terrain only appears in chunks that haven't been generated yet.

What happens to Eldritch End and Copper Age Backport items?

They disappear when the world loads on 2.0, gear included, and can't be brought back. Take the enchantments off Eldritch End gear you care about before updating.

How long is a day in Homestead 2.0?

Forty minutes: 25 of day and 15 of night, set with Better Days. Vanilla Minecraft's whole day is twenty minutes.

Is 2.0 the last Homestead update?

The last one with new content, the authors say. Bug fixes and hotfixes continue.

How many quests does Homestead 2.0 have?

Our server's quest book has 27 chapters and 709 quests, counted on 2.0. The horse and Bread & Butter questlines are the new ones, and Homestead quests goes through every chapter.

How much memory does a Homestead 2.0 server need?

Our server starts the game with 6 GB and lets it grow to 8 GB, with room for 20 players. How much RAM Homestead needs covers a PC as well.

Does Homestead 2.0 come with shaders?

Yes. Iris is in the pack, with shader packs from five projects: Complementary Shaders: Reimagined, MakeUp: Ultra Fast, Nostalgia Shader, Potato Shader and Super Duper Vanilla Shaders. The shaders in Homestead 2.0 says which one is picked and how to switch.
