Roost Ultimate

Catch, Breed, get Rich!
StoneBlock 4 has a chicken for most of its resources: with Roost Ultimate an Iron Chicken lays iron ingots, a Diamond Chicken diamonds and a Nether Star Chicken nether stars. You catch chickens with a Chicken Stick, breed new kinds in a Breeder and put each one in a Roost with seeds of its tier. Start with an egg and a feather, which make the stick.

Your first chickens on StoneBlock 4
Chickens that spawn on their own drop eggs and feathers. The pack's Loot Bee event can drop eggs too, and with luck the Chicken Jockey event lays one.
- Craft a Chicken Stick: an egg, a stick and a feather in a column.
- Right-click an adult chicken with the stick. It drops as an item you can carry, with its level kept. A vanilla chicken becomes a plain Chicken, which lays eggs in a Roost.
- Right-click a vanilla chicken while holding a feather. It turns into a Feather Chicken, a tier 2 chicken, and the feather is used up.
- Craft dyed eggs, an egg next to a dye of one colour, such as a Red Chicken Egg. Throw them: one egg in eight hatches a chicken of that colour, now and then four at once. The sixteen colour chickens are tier 1, and every bred chicken traces back to them.
- Build a Roost, then a Soul Extractor and a Breeder, then a Chicken Trainer. The quests ask for them in that order.
Right-click a block with a chicken item to let it out again. A chicken in the world lays its item about every 5 minutes; a Roost is far faster.
The Roost: seeds in, resources out
A Roost is planks across the top and down both sides, with three Composters along the bottom. It takes one chicken and a stack of chicken seeds. The seeds must be the chicken's tier or higher: an Iron Chicken is tier 3, so it needs tier 3 seeds or better and ignores tier 1 and 2.
Every cycle uses one seed and gives the chicken's item. On our server a cycle lasts 0.25 seconds per tier of the chicken, so 1.25 seconds at tier 5 and 2.25 at tier 9. A Roost therefore eats seeds quickly; keep the slot filled from a Feeder, a hopper or a pipe.
A cycle gives one item plus one for every two levels of the chicken: six at level 10, and a full stack of 64 from level 126. The cycle waits until the output slot has room for all of it.
The Water Chicken lays a Water Egg every 5 seconds and the Lava Chicken a Lava Egg every 50 seconds, both on tier 2 seeds or better.
Open the Roost to rename it, which helps once a Feeder or Collector lists many. Switch Output on, or give the Roost a redstone pulse, and it pushes what it makes into the inventory directly below. Hoppers and pipes can also put seeds and chickens in and take the output from any side.
Souls and chicken seeds
Every chicken has a tier from 1 to 9, and seeds of each tier are made from souls of the same tier. A Soul Extractor is two crafting tables, two glass bottles, two bones, two furnaces and a Chicken Stick in the middle. Put chickens in: each one is used up and becomes a soul of its tier, 5 seconds apiece on our server. Keep a pair of every chicken you extract.
The seed recipes on StoneBlock 4:
- Tier 1
- One Tier 1 soul and eight wheat seeds make 8.
- Tier 2
- One Tier 2 soul and eight tier 1 seeds make 4.
- Tier 3
- One Tier 3 soul and six tier 2 seeds make 2.
- Tier 4
- One Tier 4 soul and six tier 3 seeds make 1.
- Tier 5
- Two Tier 5 souls and seven tier 4 seeds.
- Tier 6
- Three Tier 6 souls and six tier 5 seeds.
- Tier 7
- Four Tier 7 souls and five tier 6 seeds.
- Tier 8
- Four Tier 8 souls, a Block of Diamond and four tier 7 seeds.
- Tier 9
- Four Tier 9 souls, four Nether Stars and one tier 8 seed.
Seeds are crops. Plant them on farmland like wheat: a grown plant drops its seed back plus up to three more. The quests point out that one seed of each tier is enough to start a field, and that crouching next to crops makes them grow. A Garden Cloche grows any tier and gives three seeds of it each harvest.
The World Engine also turns three souls and a catalyst into one soul of the next tier. The catalysts, from tier 1 up: a Clay block, a Block of Redstone, a Block of Black Quartz, a Block of Diamond, a Block of Emerald, a Block of Platinum, a Nether Star and an Awakened Draconium Ingot.
Levels and the Chicken Trainer
A Chicken Trainer is two blaze rods and a clock along the top, three Breeders across the middle, and two golden carrots and an anvil along the bottom. Give it one chicken and seeds of any tier. Every 15 seconds on our server it eats a seed and gives the chicken that seed's XP. On StoneBlock 4 a chicken gains no XP inside a Roost, so the Trainer is the only way to level it. The top level is 128.
XP a chicken needs for each level, by its tier, and XP a seed gives, by the seed's tier:
- Tier 1
- 500 XP a level. A tier 1 seed gives 50.
- Tier 2
- 2,000 XP a level. A tier 2 seed gives 200.
- Tier 3
- 3,000 XP a level. A tier 3 seed gives 300.
- Tier 4
- 6,250 XP a level. A tier 4 seed gives 500.
- Tier 5
- 12,500 XP a level. A tier 5 seed gives 700.
- Tier 6
- 25,000 XP a level. A tier 6 seed gives 1,000.
- Tier 7
- 32,500 XP a level. A tier 7 seed gives 1,500.
- Tier 8
- 40,000 XP a level. A tier 8 seed gives 2,500.
- Tier 9
- 50,000 XP a level. A tier 9 seed gives 5,000.
XP left over when a chicken levels up is lost. An Iron Chicken (tier 3) needs ten tier 3 seeds a level, 150 seconds in the Trainer; a single tier 9 seed would level it as well. Every two levels add one item to each Roost cycle.
Breeding chickens: the rules and tiers 2 and 3
A Breeder is crafted from a Roost, a Chicken and a Chicken Stick. Put two chickens in the side slots and seeds in the middle. The parents stay; each child uses one seed, takes 15 seconds on our server and goes into one of nine output slots. Which side a parent sits on does not matter.
- A new chicken of tier N needs seeds of tier N minus 1 or higher: tier 1 seeds for a tier 2 chicken, tier 2 seeds for an Iron Chicken.
- Two of the same chicken make a third with seeds of their own tier or higher. That is how you copy any chicken, crafted ones included.
- Two chickens let out in the world and fed seeds of their own tier also breed, and the chick follows the same pairs.

Feeder, Collector and moving your machines
- Roost Feeder
- Seven blocks of redstone around an ender pearl at the top and a block of diamond in the middle. It holds 54 stacks of seeds and sends them to the Roosts you tick in its screen. For each Roost you can drop a seed in a filter slot so it only gets that tier, send one seed, half a stack or a full stack at a time, and take turns between Roosts.
- Roost Collector
- Seven logs around an ender pearl at the top and a block of gold in the middle. It holds 54 stacks and pulls the output out of the Roosts you tick.
Both reach Roosts from 5 to 30 blocks away; set the range with the plus and minus buttons. They serve Roosts only, so Breeders and Trainers are filled by hand, hopper or pipe.
Shift-right-click any Roost Ultimate block with the Chicken Stick to pick it up. A Roost, Breeder, Trainer or Collector keeps what is inside and carries on when you place it again.
StoneBlock 4 removes the Ultimate Chicken Storage, so there is no recipe for it on our server.
Water eggs, lava eggs, essences and enderium
- Water Egg and Lava Egg
- Each holds 1,000 mB. Right-click to pour it as a source block, craft it with a bucket for a full bucket, or empty it in Create's Item Drain. On StoneBlock 4 they count as water and lava buckets in recipes that take any.
- Stone Essence
- Three craft six stone, cobblestone, andesite, diorite or granite. The shape you lay them in picks which.
- Wood Essence
- Three craft six logs of acacia, birch, cherry, dark oak, jungle, mangrove, oak or spruce, again by shape.
- Enderium Ingot
- StoneBlock 4 uses this one as its enderium. The Enderic Infuser makes 18 from eight ender pearls, a Dragon Egg and 1,000 mB of Fortron, and molten enderium casts into it with an Ingot Cast.
Questions
How do I get chickens in StoneBlock 4?
Craft a Chicken Stick from an egg, a stick and a feather, then right-click an adult chicken with it to pick it up. For the colour chickens, craft an egg with a dye and throw it: one egg in eight hatches. A feather used on a vanilla chicken turns it into a Feather Chicken.
How do I get an Iron Chicken in StoneBlock 4?
Breed a Flint Chicken with a Bone Chicken on tier 2 seeds or better. Flint comes from Gravel + Gray, Gravel from Stone + Gray, Stone from Water + Gray, and Bone from Feather + White. Craft the Water Chicken from four water buckets, four tier 1 chickens and a Tier 1 soul. In a Roost the Iron Chicken needs tier 3 seeds.
How do I get a Diamond Chicken in StoneBlock 4?
Breed a Glass Chicken (Coal + Sand) with a Gold Chicken (Yellow + Iron) on tier 4 seeds or better. It is tier 5, so it lays diamonds on tier 5 seeds. Diamond + Gold on tier 6 seeds then gives the Netherite Chicken.
How do I make tier 2 seeds and higher?
Put a tier 2 chicken in a Soul Extractor for a Tier 2 soul and craft it with eight tier 1 seeds into four tier 2 seeds. The quests suggest the crafted Water and Lava chickens for this. Each tier works the same way from souls of that tier, and the seeds can be planted to multiply.
Why is my Roost not producing?
The seeds must be the chicken's tier or higher: an Iron Chicken is tier 3 and ignores tier 1 and 2 seeds. The output slot also needs room for a whole cycle, so empty it, pipe it out, or switch Output on to push into a chest below.
How do I level up chickens on StoneBlock 4?
Only in the Chicken Trainer, because on our server chickens gain no XP inside a Roost. A seed gives 50 XP at tier 1 up to 5,000 at tier 9, and a level costs 500 XP for a tier 1 chicken up to 50,000 for tier 9. Every two levels add one item to each Roost cycle, up to level 128.
How do I get the Nether Star Chicken?
Craft it from four Netherite Chickens in the corners, four nether stars on the sides and a Tier 7 soul in the middle. The Netherite Chicken is a Diamond Chicken bred with a Gold Chicken on tier 6 seeds.
Can I breed two chickens of the same kind?
Yes. Two of the same chicken in a Breeder make a third on seeds of their own tier or higher, and both parents stay. This also copies chickens you can only craft, such as the Water, Nether Star or Draconium chickens.
