[Let's Do] Bakery

Build your own bakery and bake the finest pastries, delicious bread, and sweet cakes!
Let's Do: Bakery is new in Homestead 2.0. Almost all of its food comes from three stations: the Caking Station for cakes, cupcakes and glazed cookies, a cooking pot for jams and chocolate, and Farm & Charm's Stove for breads, tarts and pastries. To bake your first cake, stir Cake Dough in a Crafting Bowl, right-click the Caking Station with it, then right-click the cake base that appears with a jam. The quest chapter Bread 'n' Butter walks through all of it in 48 quests.

What to build first
These blocks and tools cover every recipe in the mod.
- Caking Station
- Three wooden slabs on top, a brick block, Sugar and a brick block in the middle row, three brick blocks below. Makes cakes, cupcakes and cookies. See Caking Station.
- Crafting Bowl
- Farm & Charm's mixing bowl: a stick, an iron ingot and five wooden slabs. Makes every dough. See Crafting Bowl.
- Small Cooking Pot
- Four iron ingots and a wooden slab. Cooks jams, chocolate and pudding in 15 seconds a batch. Farm & Charm's larger Cooking Pot cooks the same recipes in 45. See Small Cooking Pot.
- Stove
- Farm & Charm's oven: three iron ingots, five brick blocks and a campfire. Bakes breads, tarts and pastries in 12 seconds a batch and burns any furnace fuel. See Stove.
- Mincer
- Farm & Charm's grinder, for flour. Four iron nuggets, two planks and three iron ingots. See Mincer.
- Bread Knife and Rolling Pin
- The knife is two iron ingots and a plank, the pin two wooden slabs and a plank. The knife cuts cakes (any sword, shears or Farmer's Delight knife works too); the pin is the only tool that makes cookies. See Bread Knife and Rolling Pin.
- Jar
- A wooden slab over two glass panes makes two. Every fruit jam needs one. See Jar.
A cooking pot needs heat under it: the Stove, a campfire, a magma block, a block of redstone or a Farmer's Delight stove. Put the pot on top of your Stove and both work from one fire.
Flour, yeast and dough
The bakery uses four doughs. Cake Dough and Sweet Dough are its own and are made straight from wheat. The breads take Wheat Dough, which on Homestead means Farmer's Delight's Wheat Dough.
- Cake Dough
- Wheat, sugar, an Egg and a Milk Bucket stirred in the Crafting Bowl give 12. Used only on the Caking Station.
- Sweet Dough
- Wheat, sugar, an egg and a Water Bucket in the bowl give 12. The base of every pastry, tart and waffle.
- Flour
- Put wheat in the Mincer and crank it: one wheat gives four Flour. Create's Wheat Flour crafts into it one for one on Homestead.
- Yeast
- Sugar, a water bucket and wheat in a cooking pot, with an empty bowl, give 12 Yeast.
- Wheat Dough
- Flour, yeast and a water bucket in the bowl give five Wheat Dough. Three wheat and an egg in a crafting grid give three.
To use the bowl, right-click it with each ingredient (the whole stack goes in), then right-click it with an empty hand again and again for a couple of seconds. If you stop too early the stirring starts over. When it is done, an empty-handed click takes the dough out. Sneak and click with an empty hand to empty it.
Farm & Charm also has a Wheat Dough of its own, with the same name. The quest "Dough Rae Me" asks for that one. The Compat Workbench turns either dough into the other.
Jams, chocolate and pudding
All of these cook in the Small Cooking Pot or the Cooking Pot. A fruit jam needs an empty Jar in the pot's container slot. Jams are placeable, up to three in a stack on one block.
- Strawberry Jam
- A Strawberry, sugar and a jar.
- Sweetberry Jam
- Sweet Berries, sugar and a jar.
- Apple Jam
- An Apple, sugar and a jar.
- Glowberry Jam
- Glow Berries, sugar and a jar. No cake or cupcake takes it; use it in a jam roll or bread with jam.
- Chocolate Truffle
- Sugar, Cocoa Beans and a milk bucket give four. No jar needed.
- Chocolate Spread
- A milk bucket, a chocolate truffle, sugar and a jar. It counts as a jam.
- Pudding
- An egg, any jam and a milk bucket. A whole pudding you place and cut into slices.
Strawberries grow wild in the overworld as Wild Strawberries; a strawberry crafts into its own seeds, so one find starts a field.
How to make a cake on the Caking Station
The Caking Station does not open a menu. You build the cake on top of it, one right-click at a time, and you get the jar back every time a jam goes on.
- Place the Caking Station with an empty block above it.
- Right-click it with Cake Dough. A Blank Cake appears on top.
- Right-click the Blank Cake with Strawberry Jam, Sweetberry Jam or Chocolate Spread for that cake.
- Or right-click it with a Chocolate Truffle for a Chocolate Gateau.
- Right-click the finished cake with an empty hand to pick it up whole.
The four: Strawberry Cake, Sweetberry Cake, Chocolate Cake and Chocolate Gateau. Minecraft's own Cake still crafts the usual way, from milk, sugar, an egg and wheat.
Cupcakes and glazed cookies
Both start from the Blank Cake on the Caking Station, before any jam goes on.
- Cupcakes: right-click the Blank Cake with a knife. It splits into four cupcake bases.
- Right-click them with Strawberry Jam, Apple Jam or Sweetberry Jam, then with an empty hand: four cupcakes drop.
- Cookies: cut the Blank Cake into cupcake bases, then right-click them with the Rolling Pin.
- Right-click the flat bases with Strawberry Jam, Chocolate Spread or Sweetberry Jam, then with an empty hand: four glazed cookies drop.
Homestead adds a quicker way to the cookies: Sweet Dough, Sugar and a jam in a crafting grid give three glazed cookies of that flavour and the empty jar. There is no chocolate cupcake and no apple cookie.
Placing, cutting and eating
- Cakes, pies, tarts, the bundt cake and the pudding are blocks. Each holds four slices.
- Right-click with a knife to cut a slice off. Sneak and right-click to eat a slice straight from the block.
- Breads are placeable too, stacked three or four high on one block.
- A Basket of Bread (one of any bread, a baguette, a bun and a braided bread on a tray) is eaten in five bites of six hunger points each, and gives the tray back.
Breads and pastries on the stove
The Stove has three ingredient slots and a fuel slot. Everything below takes 12 seconds. Wheat Dough is Farmer's Delight's, see the dough section above.
- Bakers Bread
- Wheat Dough, sugar and a water bucket give four.
- Crusty Bread
- Wheat Dough, yeast and a water bucket give four.
- Baguette
- Sweet Dough, Wheat Dough and yeast give three.
- Braided Bread
- Wheat Dough, Sweet Dough and sugar give four.
- Bun
- Wheat Dough, yeast and an egg give five.

- Bundt Cake

- Bread
- Three wheat on the stove give three of Minecraft's bread, against one at a crafting table.
Sandwiches
Any bread works in these, the bakery's or Minecraft's.
- Sandwich
- Crafting grid: a bread, any cooked meat (beef, chicken, mutton, pork or rabbit) and a Cabbage give two.
- Vegetable Sandwich
- Crafting grid: a bread, a beetroot, a carrot, a cabbage and a Tomato give four.
- Bread with Jam
- Crafting grid: a bread and any jam give five.
- Grilled Bacon Sandwich
- Stove: a bread and two Raw Bacon give two.
- Grilled Salmon Sandwich
- Stove: a bread, a Raw Salmon and a cabbage give two.
Which food fills you most
Hunger points as our server's config sets them (a drumstick is two):
- Vegetable Sandwich
- Eight, and Satiation, which slows how fast you get hungry.
- Sandwich and Grilled Bacon Sandwich
- Seven each, with Satiation.
- MissLilitu Biscuit
- Six, with Sustenance.
- Breads, bun and waffle
- Five each, with Sustenance: one hunger point every 10 seconds, or half a heart of health when you are full.
- Cake and pie slices
- Five each, with Sweets, which raises speed, attack speed and damage and stacks up to ten times.
- Cupcakes, cookies, cornet, jam roll
- Three each, with Sweets.
- Toast
- Three, with Sustenance.
Displays, trays and kitchen blocks
These hold food for show. Right-click with an item to put it on, sneak and right-click to take it off. Nothing in the mod sells food or trades it.
- Cake Stand
- Three glass panes, three bricks and white dye make two. Holds one whole cake or three pieces of food. See Cake Stand.
- Cake Display
- Wooden slabs, glass panes and planks make three. Holds six slices, cupcakes or other small food. See Cake Display.
- Cupcake Display
- Iron nuggets and two wooden slabs make two. Holds six items. See Cupcake Display.
- Wall Display
- Sticks and wooden slabs make two. Hangs on a wall and holds six items.
- Tray
- Two planks and three slabs make four. Holds five foods and is part of the Basket of Bread. See Tray.
- Bread Box
- Five sticks and three wooden slabs. Holds one food.
- Kitchen furniture
- Brick Counter, Brick Sink, Cabinet, Drawer and Wall Cabinet (the last three store items), iron table, chair and bench, and a Street Sign you can write on.
The Bread 'n' Butter quest chapter
Homestead 2.0 added a chapter of 48 quests for the bakery to the quest book. It goes in the order this guide does:
- Tools first: a rolling pin, a bread knife, a jar (eight jars back) and a street sign.
- "Set Up Shop" asks for the Caking Station, a Small Cooking Pot and a Stove, for 250 XP and eight sugar.
- Then Farm & Charm's Wheat Dough, Sweet Dough and Cake Dough.
- All five jams, the chocolate truffle, the chocolate spread and a pudding.
- The four cakes, the three cupcakes and the three glazed cookies.
- Every bread and pastry from the stove, the four tarts and pies, the bundt cake and the MissLilitu Biscuit.
- The two grilled sandwiches, bread with jam, the sandwich and the vegetable sandwich.
- "Bake 'Em All" asks for the Completionist Banner and gives 1,000 XP, an iron table, two chairs, a cake display, a cupcake display and a random rare item.
The Completionist Banner
The Completionist Banner cannot be crafted from scratch. You get two from the mod's advancement "What a Long, Strange Trip It's Been" once you have had 32 of its goods in your inventory: five breads (crusty, bakers, braided, bun and baguette), the croissant, the waffle, the bundt cake, the four tarts and pies, the sandwich and the vegetable sandwich, the five jams, four cakes counting Minecraft's own, the three cupcakes, the three cookies, the MissLilitu Biscuit, the jam roll and the cornet. Toast and the gateau do not count.
Placed, it gives Regeneration to every player within eight blocks. A smithing table copies it: the banner, a netherite ingot and a netherite upgrade template give two.
Questions
How do I make a cake with the Bakery mod in Homestead?
Stir wheat, sugar, an egg and a milk bucket in a Crafting Bowl for Cake Dough. Right-click a Caking Station with it to put a Blank Cake on top, then right-click that with Strawberry Jam, Sweetberry Jam or Chocolate Spread. A Chocolate Truffle makes a Chocolate Gateau.
Why does nothing happen when I click the Caking Station?
It only takes Cake Dough, and the block above it has to be empty. Sweet Dough and Wheat Dough do nothing there.
How do I make cupcakes and glazed cookies?
Cut the Blank Cake with a knife for cupcakes, then add Strawberry, Apple or Sweetberry Jam. For cookies, flatten the cut cake with a Rolling Pin and add a jam. On Homestead you can also craft Sweet Dough, Sugar and a jam into three cookies.
Which dough do the bakery's breads use?
Farmer's Delight's Wheat Dough. A Crafting Bowl with flour, yeast and a water bucket makes five, and the Compat Workbench turns Farm & Charm's Wheat Dough into it.
How do I get a Jar?
Craft a wooden slab over two glass panes for two jars. The quest Jar Wars gives eight more.
Is there a bakery shop block for selling food?
No. The Cake Stand, Cake Display, Cupcake Display, Wall Display and Tray show food, and nothing in the mod buys it.
