The Twilight Forest

Getting there

Dig a pool of water, two by two is enough, and ring it with grass, dirt, farmland or path blocks. Put a plant on every block of the ring: flowers, grass, ferns or mushrooms. Throw in a diamond, and lightning strikes the pool and turns it into a portal. In ATM10 that lightning can set things on fire, so build it away from anything that burns.

You arrive at a portal in the forest, and it takes you back without another diamond. The Twilight Forest is always dusk, and most of what lives there is out to get you.

The order of things

Naga

Lives in a courtyard in the forest. Its Naga Scales get you through the magic barrier around the Lich's tower, and make armor.

Twilight Lich

At the top of his tower. His scepters lift the Swamp's mosquitoes, the Dark Forest's blinding darkness and the Snowy Forest's cold, which opens the next three paths.

Minoshroom and Hydra

In the Swamp's labyrinth, the Minoshroom drops Meef Stroganoff. Eat it to bear the heat of the Fire Swamp, where the Hydra lives.

Knight Phantoms and Ur-Ghast

Put a boss trophy on the pedestal in the Dark Forest ruins, then settle the phantoms in the knight's tomb. The Dark Tower's carminite devices then work for you, and a Ghast Trap pulls the Ur-Ghast from the sky.

Alpha Yeti and Snow Queen

The Alpha Yeti's fur keeps out the Glacier's cold, and the Snow Queen waits at the top of the Aurora Palace.

The Highlands

The Hydra, the Ur-Ghast and the Snow Queen together clear the acid rain over the Highlands. In the troll caves, Magic Beans on the glowing soil under the clouds grow a beanstalk up to the giants, and the Lamp of Cinders from the caves burns away the thorns.

Past the thorns, the Highlands are unfinished: the mod's own advancement says the rest is still being made.

Finding your way

A Magic Map Focus, a Raven Feather, Torchberries and glowstone, makes the Magic Map, which marks the forest's biomes and the structures in them, bosses included.

The labyrinth's focus makes the Maze Map for finding your way through it, and the Ore Map shows the ores around you. Deep in the labyrinth's secret vault is the Mazebreaker, a pickaxe that breaks maze walls.

Materials and gear

Ironwood

Liveroot, raw iron and a gold nugget make Raw Ironwood, which smelts into Ironwood: early tools and armor.

Steeleaf

Steeleaf: another early material for tools and armor.

Knightmetal

Goblin knights drop Armor Shards; nine make a cluster that smelts into Knightmetal.

Fiery

Fiery Ingots, from the Hydra and the Ur-Ghast's fiery drops: tools and armor that burn.

Naga Scale

Naga Scale Tunic and Leggings.

Carminite from the Dark Tower runs its devices. Charms of Life bring you back from death, and the bosses' trophies go on the Dark Forest pedestal and into banner patterns.

What ATM10 changes

• The Uncrafting Table is switched off: ATM10 disables uncrafting and the table with it.
• The Knightmetal Shield is a shield ringed with knightmetal ingots, the pack's own recipe.
• The Snow Queen Trophy is an ingredient of ATM10's Oblivion Shard.
• Anyone can make a portal, in the Overworld only, and the lightning that opens it can start fires.
