Getting started in ATM10

Oritech machines run on RF. Most of the bigger ones are multiblocks: place the machine and right-click it to highlight where its machine cores go, or right-click it with a core in your hand to place the next one. The tooltip says how many cores a machine needs, and two machines cannot share a core.

Three things are different in ATM10. Oritech's own nickel and platinum ores do not generate in the Overworld, so mine All The Ores' Nickel Ore and Platinum Ore. The hand recipes for Oritech steel and electrum are removed. And JEI shows All The Ores' nickel, platinum, steel and electrum where Oritech has its own; Oritech's recipes ask for these by tag, so an ingot from any mod works.

• Make steel and electrum in another mod's machine. Ender IO's Alloy Smelter turns iron and coal into steel and gold and silver into electrum; a heated Create Mechanical Mixer makes steel from an iron ingot and coal dust, and electrum from a gold ingot and redstone.
• Craft Magnetic Coils (six nickel and three steel make four) and Motors (four steel, a nickel ingot and two coils).
• Build a Basic Generator from five nickel, a copper ingot, two coils and a furnace. It burns any furnace fuel.
• Add a Pulverizer for your ore, and an Assembler, which needs an Adamant Ingot (two nickel and two diamonds by hand), two Crafters and two motors.
• Build the Foundry from five copper, a motor, two electrum and a cauldron. From here on it makes your steel and electrum.
• Make a Centrifuge with the recipe that uses glass bottles, copper, two iron blocks and two motors, which needs no Processing Units, and give it a Fluid Addon for plastic.
• Get Fluxite and build an Enderic Laser. Fluxite unlocks the Fragment Forge, the stronger generators and everything after them.

The Assembler makes components for less than the crafting grid: one nickel, one steel and two coils give two motors, and two nickel, a steel and a copper ingot give six coils. Some parts exist only there, like the Processing Unit and the Flux Gate. AE2 and Refined Storage pattern providers work with it directly.

Power: generators, storage and cables

ATM10 sets Oritech's generators well above the figures in the mod's manual. Generators push power into the pipes; an Energy Pipe carries 10,000 RF/t and a Superconductor 4,194,304 RF/t. The Bio, Lava and Fuel Generators take addons: speed raises the output and shortens the burn, efficiency makes the fuel last longer.

Basic Generator

Any furnace fuel, 64 RF/t in ATM10 (32 by default). No addons.

Bio Generator

256 RF/t (64 by default). Biomass burns for 500 ticks, raw crops and seeds for 300, a Block of Biomass for 5,400.

Lava Generator

256 RF/t (64 by default). 100 mB of lava lasts 120 ticks, the same of Sheol Fire 800.

Fuel Generator

2,048 RF/t (256 by default). Per 100 mB: crude oil 20 ticks, heavy oil and naphtha 40, diesel 80, turbofuel 320. Power leaves only from the two yellow spots on its front.

Big Solar Panel

1,600 RF/t times the average quality of its cores (32 by default): 1,600 with Primitive cores, 11,200 with Ultimate ones. Only by day with sky light 12 or more.

Steam Engine

A generator with a Steam Boiler Addon makes steam instead of RF and the engine turns it back, losing about a fifth of the water. It runs faster the fuller its tank and works best near 700% speed. Up to ten engines in a row share one input.

Portable Energy Storage holds 5 million RF in ATM10 (1 million by default) and keeps its charge when broken. Large Energy Storage holds 60 million (20 million by default). Both take power on any side and give it out only at the red marker. Over long distances, Energy Transmission Poles 50 to 1,000 blocks apart, linked with a Target Designator, carry 1 million RF/t; right-click their cable with a Pipe Wrench to zipline along it.

Ore processing: Pulverizer, Fragment Forge, Centrifuge and Foundry

Each step of the ore line gives more metal than the one before it. The figures below are per raw ore. An ore block put into the Pulverizer gives two raw ores first, and in the Fragment Forge two raw ores plus a raw ore of a second metal.

Furnace

1 ingot.

Pulverizer

A dust and three small dusts, about 1.3 ingots. Small dusts combine by themselves in its output.

Fragment Forge, dry Centrifuge, Foundry

A clump and three small clumps (nine make a clump). The Centrifuge turns a clump into a gem and the Foundry melts two gems into three ingots: 2 ingots per raw ore.

Centrifuge with water

With a Fluid Addon and a bucket of water per clump it gives two gems: 4 ingots per raw ore.

Centrifuge with sulfuric acid

A bucket of sulfuric acid per clump gives three gems and 250 mB of Mineral Slurry: 6 ingots per raw ore.

Refinery with Sheol Fire

250 mB of Sheol Fire turns a raw ore straight into two clumps. Through the acid Centrifuge that is 9 ingots per raw ore.

Atomic Forge

A gem and two Fluxite give two dusts, which smelt into two ingots: a third more than the Foundry gets from a gem.

The Fragment Forge also gives byproducts: three small clumps of a second metal with every raw ore. Iron gives nickel, nickel gives platinum (two small clumps), copper and gold give each other, and raw platinum gives a Fluxite. One Yield Addon doubles them. The dry Centrifuge adds small dusts of the same second metal; the water and acid recipes give only gems.

Where the ores are in ATM10: nickel and platinum come from All The Ores. Oritech's Endstone Platinum Ore still generates in the End, where it is common. Platinum is rare underground. Oritech's uranium veins also still generate from the bottom of the world up to about Y -24, on cave walls and floors open to the air: Deepslate Uranium Ore with glowing Uranite Crystals. All The Ores' Uranium Ore works too.

Ore boulders, mounds of deepslate and ore on the surface, mark a resource node in the bedrock straight below them. In ATM10 their ore blocks are vanilla ores mixed with All The Ores' deepslate nickel, platinum and uranium. Common boulders sit over copper, iron, nickel or coal nodes, rare ones over diamond, gold, emerald, uranium or platinum, and a third kind over gold, nickel, lapis or redstone.

Alloys and components

The Foundry joins two ingredients into one alloy. Most Oritech alloys can also be made in Ender IO's Alloy Smelter, Immersive Engineering's Arc Furnace and a heated Create mixer, because Oritech ships those recipes.

Steel

An iron ingot and coal dust. No hand recipe in ATM10.

Electrum

A gold ingot and redstone dust. No hand recipe in ATM10.

Adamant

A diamond and a nickel ingot. By hand, two of each make one.

Biosteel

Raw Biopolymer and an iron ingot.

Energite

A nickel ingot and a Fluxite. Powah's Energizing Orb makes it too.

Duratium

A platinum ingot and a netherite ingot, or in the Atomic Forge a platinum ingot and two Reinforced Carbon Sheets.

Netherite Ingot

A gold ingot and a single Netherite Scrap, where vanilla takes four of each.

Gems

Two copper, iron, gold, nickel or platinum gems make three ingots.

Prometheum

Atomic Forge only: a Heisenberg Compensator and two Overcharged Crystals.

ATM10 adds one Foundry recipe of its own: a redstone block and a copper block make Ender IO's Redstone Alloy Block, so a copper ingot and redstone dust always give Mekanism's Infused Alloy.

Carbon Fibre Strands

Coal dust in the Centrifuge, one strand each.

Silicon

Two quartz dust and two sand make three Raw Silicon, which smelts into silicon. ATM10 shows AE2's silicon; any works.

Enderic Compound

Eight from an ender pearl in the Pulverizer, twelve in the Fragment Forge. End stone in the Fragment Forge and sculk in the Centrifuge give one.

Processing Unit

Plastic, carbon fibre, electrum and redstone in the Assembler.

Enderic Lens

Adamant, carbon fibre and two Enderic Compound in the Assembler.

Flux Gate

A Processing Unit, two Fluxite and a platinum ingot in the Assembler.

Superconductor

A Flux Gate, electrum, a Dubious Container and energite make four in the Assembler.

Silicon Wafer

Carbon fibre and two silicon in the Atomic Forge, or four from one carbon fibre in Silicon Wash in the Centrifuge.

Dubious Container

Plastic, four Enderic Compound and two adamant.

Advanced Computing Engine

A Processing Unit and two Silicon Wafers in the Atomic Forge. Two of them and a duratium ingot make a Super AI Chip.

Heisenberg Compensator

A Super AI Chip or an Unholy Intelligence with two adamant in the Atomic Forge.

Overcharged Crystal

An amethyst block, four Superconductors and two Advanced Batteries, or Fluxite and energite dust collided at 5,000 J.

Unholy Intelligence

Give a Dubious Container to an allay or use it on a vex, or bind one in Ender IO's Soul Binder.

Machine cores, addons and extenders

Addons are blocks placed against a machine on its marked spots; the machine's addon page shows where. An addon turns blue when it is connected and stays pink when it is not. Right-click the machine to connect an addon placed after it.

Cores decide how many Machine Addon Extenders a machine can use: one for each point of quality. Quality is the average of its cores, from one for Primitive to seven for Ultimate; hover the machine icon at the top left of its screen to see it. Better cores do not make a machine faster, so a machine you will never upgrade can use the cheapest.

Auxiliary Processing Chamber

One more recipe at a time for 50% more energy. Best on slow recipes.

Burst Addon

Eight times the speed for 240 ticks per addon, then 80% speed and 20% more energy until it cools down.

Yield Addon

Fortune for the Enderic Laser and the Destroyer, up to three. In the Fragment Forge it doubles byproducts, one only.

Capacitor Addon

+2,000,000 RF of storage and +2,000 RF/t of input.

Fluid Addon

Lets the Centrifuge handle fluids and drone ports carry them. Pipe the fluids into the machine itself.

Heart of the Machine

The Addon Splicer fuses the stat addons attached to it into this one block, which works only as a machine's single addon.

ATM10 adds a second recipe for the Machine Addon Extender: eight Carbon Plating Blocks around an Improved Machine Core. The mod's own, four Basic Machine Cores and four plating blocks around a duratium ingot, still works.

Enderic Laser, fluxite, Atomic Forge and quarries

The Enderic Laser takes one core and draws 512 RF/t in ATM10. Aim it with a Target Designator: right-click a block to store it, then shift-right-click the laser. It fires in that direction for up to 128 blocks, breaks everything but glass on the way and keeps the drops in its own inventory. Drops that do not fit are destroyed, so pipe them out.

Fluxite comes from amethyst. In ATM10 the quickest way is an amethyst shard in AE2's Charger or Powah's Energizing Orb, both of which turn it into Fluxite. For a steady supply, aim a laser at Budding Amethyst: it speeds up the growth and every grown cluster it hits becomes Fluxite, while the budding block stays. The Assembler can make a new Budding Amethyst from two amethyst shards, Enderic Compound and an Overcharged Crystal.

A laser aimed at a machine or storage block charges it and ignores its input limit. The Atomic Forge (eight cores) and the Bedrock Extractor take power only this way. The forge finishes a recipe when its buffer is full, so more lasers make it faster. A laser on a certus quartz cluster gives charged certus quartz, and on a Uranite Crystal plutonium dust.

For digging, the Destroyer Block rides a rectangle of Machine Frames and breaks the layer under it. Each Quarry Addon multiplies its depth by eight: 8, 64, then 512 blocks. A Crop Filter Addon makes it break only grown crops, and the Placer and Fertilizer run on the same frame. On a laser a Quarry Addon widens the beam by one.

The Bedrock Extractor needs 26 machine cores and lasers for power. Placed over resource nodes, it mines the 3x3 area under it forever: each ore costs 20 steps of 1,024 RF. Right-click it to see which nodes it reaches.

Oil, fuels and plastic

Crude oil springs out of the ground in the Overworld and is most common in deserts; a small fountain marks a spring. Take it with buckets or a Pump, which drains up to 100,000 blocks at four buckets a second for 512 RF a block.

The Refinery needs nine cores. On its own it gives only its first fluid, doubled; stack up to two Refinery Chamber Modules on top, each with its own cores, for the second and third, and pump those out of the modules. ATM10 rewrites both crude oil recipes so any crude oil in the pack works, Modern Industrialization's and PneumaticCraft's included.

Plastic has two routes, both in a Centrifuge with a Fluid Addon. Bio: four wheat make Packed Wheat, which with 250 mB of water becomes Raw Biopolymer, and that with 500 mB of water becomes a Plastic Sheet. Oil: 100 mB of naphtha and sand make two Polymer Resin, and each resin with 500 mB of water makes two sheets, or one in a furnace. Mineral Slurry in place of water doubles the sheets. In ATM10 Immersive Engineering's Duroplast Sheet also counts as plastic.

The Refinery also soaks carbon fibre in 500 mB of naphtha into Reinforced Carbon Sheets. Quartz dust and naphtha in the Centrifuge make Silicon Wash, which turns sand into four silicon in the Refinery and one carbon fibre into four Silicon Wafers in the Centrifuge.

The nuclear reactor in ATM10

The reactor is a box of Reactor Walls with a Nuclear Reactor Controller somewhere on a wall; right-click the controller to assemble or update it. Rods, heat pipes, vents, absorbers and reflectors go inside, and every layer of the inside must be the same, so you design one layer and stack it. Fuel Ports go on the roof above each rod stack, Coolant Absorber Ports above each absorber stack and Energy Ports on the side walls. In ATM10 a reactor can be up to 32 blocks in each direction.

ATM10 makes it much stronger than the manual says: each neutron pulse a rod receives is worth 1,100 RF/t per layer (64 by default), and each Energy Port can send out 125,000 RF/t (25,000 by default).

Single Reactor Rod

1 pulse of its own: 1,100 RF/t per layer on its own. Burns 1 fuel unit a tick per layer.

Double Rod

4 pulses: 4,400 RF/t on its own. Burns 2 units a tick per layer.

Quad Rod

12 pulses: 13,200 RF/t on its own. Burns 4 units a tick per layer.

Neighbours

Each touching rod adds its own rod count (1, 2 or 4) to the pulses, and each touching Neutron Reflector adds the rod's count again, with no extra fuel.

A rod makes heat each tick equal to half its pulses (rounded down) times its pulses, plus four, so dense layouts heat up fast. Heat Pipes pull heat from hotter neighbours. Heat Vents remove heat from their hottest neighbour: in ATM10 24 a tick plus a 160th of its heat. Heat Absorbers take 64 a tick from every neighbour in ATM10 (16 by default) while the port above them holds ice, packed ice or blue ice; one ice lasts 1,000 ticks in a one-layer reactor. The Industrial Chiller freezes each bucket of water into three ice.

Fuel goes into the Fuel Port. A Uranium Pellet holds 4,000 fuel units, so a single rod in a one-layer reactor burns it in 200 seconds; a Plutonium Pellet holds ten times as much. In the Assembler two Uranium Gems, a plastic sheet and a nickel ingot make two pellets, with adamant three and with duratium four. A Uranium Gem is a copper dust and two uranium dust in the Atomic Forge, and the Pulverizer makes two uranium dust from each raw uranium.

If any part stays above 2,000 heat for 30 seconds, the reactor melts down. Sirens sound before that. ATM10 keeps this a full nuclear explosion, sized by the number of rods burning. A redstone signal to a Reactor Redstone Port stops new fuel from going in, but pellets already burning finish. Try new designs with small pellets: one pellet splits into nine, and each burns for a tenth as long.

Particle accelerator, augments and gear

A Particle Accelerator shoots any item as a particle along a path of Guide Rings. Each Linear Motor it passes adds 1 m/s and costs ten times the particle's speed in RF. Right-click a ring to bend it 45 degrees; the faster the particle, the longer the straights between turns must be, or it flies out and breaks blocks. A Sensor gives a comparator its speed. To collide, bring one particle up to speed and send a slow one from a second controller into the same ring the other way round. The collision energy is the sum of both speeds.

Fast collisions also throw out tachyons. Tachyon Absorbers placed around the collision point turn them into RF, up to four times what the acceleration cost.

The Cybernetic Augmentation Center (ten cores) researches permanent upgrades for your body and fits them; walk into it to open it. Research happens in up to three stations beside it, three cores each: the Cybernetic Research Station for health, armor, speed, reach and mining speed, the Quantum Research Station for the stronger tiers and night vision, and the Arcane Research Station for flight, cloak, ore vision, portal, luck and lower gravity. Research costs from 10 million RF to 500 million. Hold G to switch augments on and off.

Flight needs Reactive Plating and Portal researched first, then 64 Ion Thrusters, 16 Wind Charges, 16 Prometheum and 32 plutonium pellets with 500 million RF, and four more Ion Thrusters to fit it.

Exo armor

The helmet gives night vision, the chestplate holds 5 million RF and charges your powered tools, the leggings make you faster and the boots stop fall damage.

Jetpack

100,000 RF or four buckets of turbofuel, which flies faster; fill fuel in the Equipment Charger. The Exo Jetpack holds 5 million RF and 32 buckets.

Hand Drill

An unbreakable pickaxe and shovel that runs on RF.

Prometheum Pickaxe

Unbreakable with extra reach. Shift-right-click switches between 3x3 mining and Silk Touch.

Enderic Railgun

A handheld laser with a mining mode and a combat mode, up to 128 blocks.

Manhattan Module

ATM10 turns on Boring Nukes, so it and the Low-Yield device only make a small fiery blast, weaker than TNT. ATM's Pulsating Black Hole, for one of the ATM Star recipes, needs one.

ATM10 removes the recipes of the Arcane Catalyst and the Stabilized Enchanter, so Oritech's soul enchanting, the Spawner Controller, which needs two catalysts, and the Tainted Refinery, made by blowing up a refinery next to a catalyst, cannot be built here.
