Iron Jetpacks

A fully customizable FE powered jetpacks mod!
Iron Jetpacks adds jetpacks that run on FE. ATM10 defines 16 craftable tiers, from Wood to Unobtainium, plus a Creative one. You craft the first from planks, then upgrade it one tier at a time; it keeps its charge on the way. Charge it like any FE item, put it on, and press V to start the engine, which is off on a new jetpack.

The tiers in ATM10
Each tier is made from its own material and from any jetpack of the tier below. Several jetpacks share a tier, so you can go from Copper or Stone to Iron, Bronze or Silver, whichever metal you have. These are the server's figures, which differ from the mod's defaults that other wikis quote. Usage is FE per tick while flying; the time is how long a full charge lasts at full thrust without sprinting.
- Wood, tier 0
- Any planks. 20,000 FE, 32 FE a tick, about 30 seconds. Vertical speed 0.15, sideways 0.05, 1 armour.
- Stone, tier 1
- Any stone. 50,000 FE, 64 FE a tick, about 40 seconds. Vertical 0.15, sideways 0.06, 2 armour.
- Copper, tier 1
- Copper ingots. 75,000 FE, 80 FE a tick, about 45 seconds. Vertical 0.16, sideways 0.07, 2 armour.
- Iron, Bronze, Silver, tier 2
- 120,000 FE, 120 FE a tick, 50 seconds. Vertical 0.2, sideways 0.10 on Iron and 0.12 on the other two, 3 armour.
- Gold, Invar, tier 3
- 400,000 FE, 300 FE a tick, about a minute. Vertical 0.3, sideways 0.14. Gold gives 2 armour, Invar 3.
- Electrum, Steel, tier 3
- 500,000 FE, 310 FE a tick, about 80 seconds. Vertical 0.31, sideways 0.14. Electrum gives 2 armour, Steel 3.
- Diamond, tier 4
- 5,000,000 FE, 600 FE a tick, about 7 minutes. Vertical 0.35, sideways 0.16, 4 armour.
- Platinum, tier 4
- 7,000,000 FE, 700 FE a tick, about 8 minutes. Vertical 0.36, sideways 0.16, 4 armour.
- Emerald, tier 5
- 12,500,000 FE, 900 FE a tick, about 11 minutes. Vertical 0.4, sideways 0.17, 4 armour.
- Allthemodium, tier 6
- Added by ATM10. 60,000,000 FE, 1,600 FE a tick, about 31 minutes. Vertical 0.45, sideways 0.18, 9 armour.
- Vibranium, tier 7
- Added by ATM10. 120,000,000 FE, 2,700 FE a tick, about 37 minutes. Vertical 0.5, sideways 0.19, 12 armour. Hovers without sinking.
- Unobtainium, tier 8
- Added by ATM10. 180,000,000 FE, 4,000 FE a tick, about 37 minutes. Vertical 0.55, sideways 0.21, 15 armour. Hovers without sinking.
- Creative
- Infinite energy, vertical 0.6, sideways 0.25, 8 armour. Only from ATM10's own recipe, see below.
Sprinting multiplies forward speed and fuel use; the multipliers grow with the tier, from no change on Wood to 1.7 times the speed for 5.5 times the fuel on Unobtainium. Hold Shift over a jetpack to see all of its figures.
How to craft a jetpack
Every tier is built from three parts made of that tier's material, and each part is named after its tier: an Unobtainium Energy Cell, an Unobtainium Thruster. The parts also take a coil, and which coil depends on the tier.
- Basic Coil
- Tiers 0 to 2: Wood, Stone, Copper, Iron, Bronze, Silver. Four iron ingots, two redstone and a stick.
- Advanced Coil
- Tiers 3 and 4: Gold, Invar, Electrum, Steel, Diamond, Platinum. Four gold ingots, two redstone and a stick.
- Elite Coil
- Tiers 5 and 6: Emerald and Allthemodium. Four diamonds, two redstone and a stick.
- Ultimate Coil
- Tiers 7 and 8: Vibranium and Unobtainium. Four emeralds, two redstone and a stick.
- Energy Cell: a coil in the middle, the material left and right, redstone above and below.
- Thruster: an Energy Cell in the middle with a coil above, left and right, a furnace below it and the material in the four corners.
- Capacitor: three Energy Cells down the middle column, the material in the six other slots.
- Wood Jetpack: the Capacitor top middle, a Leather Strap in the centre, planks on both sides of each, and a Thruster in each bottom corner.
- Every other jetpack: the same shape with a jetpack of the tier below in the centre instead of the strap.
One tier takes 28 of its material, 11 coils, 10 redstone dust and two furnaces. An upgraded jetpack keeps the charge it had, and its engine, hover and throttle settings. Jetpacks never break and cannot be repaired or, on our server, enchanted.
How to charge a jetpack
A jetpack stores ordinary FE, so anything that charges FE items charges it. It does not charge itself and burns no fuel items. The bar under its icon and its tooltip show the charge.
- Put it in the charge slot of an energy storage block, such as a Mekanism Energy Cube.
- Stand on a Chargepad. It charges what is in your inventory, armour slots included, and the Curios slots when nothing else needs charge, so it reaches a jetpack worn on your back.
- Carry a Powah Battery, or bind a Player Transmitter to yourself to charge your items from a distance.
A high tier holds a lot: an Unobtainium Jetpack takes 180,000,000 FE to fill, so charge it from a big power source rather than a starter generator.
Controls: engine, hover and throttle
Wear the jetpack in the chest slot, or in the Curios back slot to keep a chestplate on. It only works while it has charge. All keys can be changed under Iron Jetpacks in the controls menu.
- V
- Turns the engine on and off. A new jetpack has its engine off, which is why it does nothing at first.
- Jump
- Thrust upward. Without hover, letting go means you fall.
- H
- Hover mode. In the air the jetpack holds you and sinks slowly; jump rises, sneak descends faster. It uses energy every tick you are in the air, and stops elytra gliding.
- Period and comma
- Raise and lower the throttle in steps of 20%, from 20% to 100%. It scales climbing and horizontal speed, not the fuel used.
- Sprint
- Faster forward flight and, while holding it, faster climbing, for more fuel.
While the jetpack is holding you up your fall is reset, so landing in hover mode costs no health. If the charge runs out in the air you fall like anyone else. A small display on the left of the screen shows charge, engine, hover and throttle; its position is in the mod's client config.
The Creative Jetpack in ATM10
The mod gives the Creative tier no recipe; ATM10 adds one of its own, and it is part of the pack's endgame. Its parts are made the same way, from different things:
- Creative Energy Cell: a Nitro Battery between two Blocks of Unobtainium, with a Block of Redstone above and below.
- Creative Thruster: the Creative Cell, three Blocks of Nitro Crystal, four Blocks of Unobtainium and an Unobtainium Furnace.
- Creative Capacitor: an Ultimate Induction Cell, two Nitro Reactors, two SPS Casings and four Blocks of Unobtainium.
- Creative Jetpack: an Unobtainium Jetpack in the centre, the Creative Capacitor, two Creative Thrusters, two Creative Essence, two Blocks of Vibranium-Allthemodium Alloy and an ATM Star.
Questions
How do I charge an Iron Jetpack?
Like any FE item: in the charge slot of an energy cube, on a Mekanism Chargepad, or with a Powah battery or Player Transmitter. It does not burn fuel.
Why does my jetpack not fly?
The engine starts off. Press V to turn it on, and check it has charge.
What is the best jetpack in ATM10?
Unobtainium among the craftable ones: the fastest, 15 armour, and about 37 minutes of thrust. Above it is the Creative Jetpack, which needs an ATM Star.
Can I wear a jetpack and a chestplate?
Yes. Put the jetpack in the Curios back slot and it flies from there.
Can I enchant a jetpack?
Not on our server: the pack's config turns jetpack enchanting off. Jetpacks never break, so Unbreaking and Mending are not needed.
