EvilCraft

An evil mod for Minecraft.
EvilCraft runs on Blood. You collect it from the mobs you kill, let some of it dry into Hardened Blood, and use that with Dark Gems to build the Blood Infuser, the machine most of the mod comes out of. From there it opens up brooms you fly on, a crafting table you carry, weather in a bottle and furnaces that cook Vengeance Spirits for their drops. Start with Dark Ore and a Blood Extractor.

Dark Ore, Dark Gems and the book
Dark Ore is in the Overworld from the bottom of the world up to y 66, with extra veins in deepslate near the bottom. In ATM10 the Mining Dimension also has it between y 65 and 129. Mine it with an iron pickaxe or better: it drops four or five Dark Gems, and Fortune adds more. Silk Touch gives the ore block.
Crushed Dark Gem drops from the ore only with Fortune, one plus up to one per Fortune level. In ATM10 a Dark Gem also goes through Mekanism's Crusher or Oritech's Pulverizer for one Crushed Dark Gem each. Most of the mod's tools need a few of them.
The guide book is Origins of Darkness. Feed a Darkened Apple (an apple and a Dark Gem) to an animal and quickly throw a book at the anomaly it leaves behind. It also turns up in dungeon, mineshaft, village and Nether fortress chests.
Where Blood comes from
- Blood Extractor
- Three Spikes, glass and a Dark Gem. Keep it anywhere in your inventory and every mob you kill fills it with 5 to 40 mB per point of the mob's max health, so 100 to 800 mB for a zombie. It holds 5,000 mB by default; craft two together to add them up.
- Vein Sword
- Doubles the Blood from kills made with it in hand. Two Dark Power Gems, a Dark Stick and two Spikes.
- Blood Stain
- Appears where a mob falls to its death: 20 mB per point of its max health by default. Shift-right-click it with an extractor, or let a Sanguinary Pedestal drain it.
- Sanguinary Pedestal
- Drains Blood Stains around it into nearby tanks. A Spiked Plate on top hurts mobs for 4 and sends 160 mB a hit to the pedestal, and the kills drop as if a player made them.
- Condensed Blood
- 500 mB in an item, found in dungeon, mineshaft, village and fortress chests. Insert it into any machine that takes Blood.
Store it in a Dark Tank: a Dark Gem above and below, two iron ingots and glass. It holds 16,000 mB, keeps its contents when broken, and tanks crafted together add up. The same shape with Dark Gem Blocks, iron blocks and a glass block makes one nine times as big. Right-click a placed tank to make it drain into whatever is below it; shift-right-click one in your hand to fill the containers you carry.
A Blood Extractor right-clicked on a block places one bucket of Blood in the world, and shift-right-click in the air switches it to filling the containers you carry.
Hardened Blood, Dark Power Gems and the Blood Infuser
Blood left in the world dries. A still Blood source with no water within four blocks, and no rain falling on it, turns into Hardened Blood after a while. Break it with Flint and Steel for five to nine Hardened Blood Shards. With Silk Touch you keep the block, and smelting it gives nine shards. Broken any other way, or rained on, it turns back into Blood.
Throw a Dark Gem into a pool of at least five Blood source blocks (all within three blocks of where it lands) and it becomes a Dark Power Gem. The five sources are used up. You need this once: the infuser makes the next ones from 250 mB each.
- Mine Dark Ore and craft a Blood Extractor. Fill it on mobs; six or seven buckets is enough to start.
- Pour five Blood sources in a pit and throw a Dark Gem in for a Dark Power Gem.
- Pour a few more somewhere dry and wait for them to harden, then break them with Flint and Steel.
- Eight Hardened Blood Shards around the Dark Power Gem make a Blood Infusion Core.
- Eight cobblestone around the core make the Blood Infuser.
The Blood Infuser fills anything that holds Blood (Dark Tanks, the broom, tools) and turns items into others, using Blood from its 10,000 mB tank. Feed it with a bucket or a filled tank in its left slot, or pipe Blood in. A redstone signal pauses it.
The core also makes the Blood Chest, which repairs tools in it with Blood and very rarely gives one Curse of Breaking.
Blood Infuser tiers and promises
Every recipe in the infuser has a tier, 0 to 3, and the machine's tier is set by the Promise of Tenacity in its promise slots. Each tier also enlarges the tank and opens another slot for speed and efficiency promises.
- Promise of Tenacity I
- Tier 1, tank 40,000 mB. Any Bowl of Promises, an Iron Promise Acceptor and a spider eye.
- Promise of Tenacity II
- Tier 2, tank 160,000 mB. A Bowl of Promises of tier 1 or more, a Gold Promise Acceptor and an ender pearl.
- Promise of Tenacity III
- Tier 3, tank 640,000 mB. A Bowl of Promises of tier 2 or more, a Diamond Promise Acceptor and an eye of ender.
- Promise of Velocity
- Twice the speed. A Bowl of Promises of tier 1 or more, an Iron Promise Acceptor and a block of redstone.
- Promise of Productivity
- Blood goes 1.5 times as far. A Bowl of Promises of tier 1 or more, an Iron Promise Acceptor and a block of lapis.
The bowl comes first. Three Dark Power Gems make a Bowl of Empty Promises; add two Crushed Dark Gems to dust it, then infuse it with 5,000 mB. It comes out at the tier of the infuser you used, and it is not used up when you craft a promise, so one bowl makes many.
The acceptors are the expensive part, and each one needs the tier before it: an iron block with 10,000 mB (tier 0), a gold block with 40,000 mB (tier 1), a diamond block with 160,000 mB (tier 2). That is why the tank grows with the tier.
- Tier 0
- Dark Power Gem, its block (2,250 mB), Undead Sapling from a dead bush, Bloody Cobblestone.
- Tier 1
- Blook, filled Blood Orb (10,000 mB), Blood Potash, Blood-Waxed Coal, leather from rotten flesh, an ender pearl from a Potentia Sphere, zombie heads.
- Tier 2
- Dark Blood Brick and Reinforced Undead Planks (1,000 mB each), redstone from Dull Dust, netherrack, creeper heads.
- Tier 3
- Corrupted Tear (10,000 mB), Garmonbozia (50,000 mB), blaze rods from bones, nether wart from seeds, soul sand, wither skeleton skulls.
Dark Temples, the Environmental Accumulator and weather
The Environmental Accumulator is not craftable. It stands in Dark Temples, structures on the Overworld surface in most biomes. Drop an item on top of it while the weather matches the recipe; it takes the item, changes the weather and spits the result back out, then cools down for a minute. Each use degrades the land around it.
- Weather Container
- A Dark Gem, a glass bottle and sugar. In clear weather the accumulator bottles the clear sky and it starts to rain; in rain it bottles the rain and the sky clears; in a thunderstorm it bottles lightning and the storm drops to rain.
- By crafting
- A container of clear sky with two water buckets becomes a rain one, and a rain one with two glowstone dust a lightning one. Thrown, a container releases its weather.
- Empowering
- The Exalted Crafter and the Inverted Potentia are empowered in a thunderstorm on the accumulator. An item on the ground struck by lightning is empowered too, and a Lightning Grenade calls a bolt where it lands.
- Biome Extract
- Bottles the biome the accumulator stands in; thrown, it turns the area into that biome.
Break a temple's accumulator for an Environmental Accumulation Core. With Garmonbozia, a Blood Infusion Core and iron blocks it makes the Sanguinary Environmental Accumulator, which you can place at home and which does no harm to the land. It runs on Blood from eight tanks placed around it; smoke shows where each tank goes.
Weather containers also craft into Lightning Grenades (eight ender pearls around a lightning one), Buckets of Eternal Water (a rain one under Dark Gems) and blocks of Eternal Water.
Vengeance Spirits, boxes and the Spirit Furnace
When a mob dies, a Vengeance Spirit of it can rise. You cannot see spirits unless your Vengeance Ring is switched on (which also sends them after you) or you carry Spectral Glasses. On our server at most two spirits spawn within 24 blocks of each other, and a Gemstone Torch stops them spawning within 15 blocks.
- Vengeance Ring: four iron ingots and four Crushed Dark Gems. Shift-right-click to switch it on.
- Vengeance Focus: the ring with four more iron and four more Crushed Dark Gems. Right-click aims a beam that freezes a spirit.
- Box of Eternal Closure: an ender chest, two potions of Weakness and six Crushed Dark Gems. Place it open; it pulls in a frozen spirit within 10 blocks and shuts. Some dungeon and mineshaft chests hold one.
- Piercing Vengeance Focus: kills spirits instead, for Vengeance Essence.
The Spirit Furnace cooks a boxed spirit and keeps what the mob would drop, as often as you like: the box is never emptied. Build a hollow cube of Dark Blood Bricks big enough for the mob to stand in (3 wide and 4 high for a zombie) with one Spirit Furnace block in a wall. A red glow means it formed.
Dark Blood Bricks are Dark Bricks infused with 1,000 mB at tier 2, so the furnace needs Promise of Tenacity II first. It burns 25 mB a tick by default for 10 ticks per point of the mob's health: a zombie costs 5,000 mB and takes 10 seconds. Promises work in it as in the infuser.
The Spirit Reanimator turns a boxed spirit and an egg into that mob's spawn egg, using the spirit up.
The broom: parts, Blood and modifiers
A Broom is three Broom Parts crafted together: a rod, a brush and a cap. Right-click it to sit on it and fly. It burns 1 mB of Blood a tick by default, from its own tank first and then from containers you carry; out of Blood it crawls at a tenth of its speed. Fill it in the Blood Infuser.
- Dark Sticks first: a Dark Gem over two Undead Planks, for four. The planks come from an Undead Sapling, a dead bush infused with 800 mB.
- Bare Rod: three Dark Sticks and two Crushed Dark Gems. Bare Brush: three Crushed Dark Gems over two Dark Sticks. Bare Cap: a Dark Gem between two Crushed Dark Gems.
- Craft a bare part with a material to change it: blaze rods, bamboo, bone or obsidian for a rod; feathers, wool, hay or honey for a brush; gems, metal ingots, slime or a mob head for a cap. Each tooltip shows what it gives.
- Put a rod, a brush and a cap in a crafting grid for the broom.
Modifiers are added by crafting the broom with an item, and they never come off. How many fit is the broom's modifier count; a nether star or Garmonbozia raises it by one.
- Speed
- Redstone, or a block of redstone for nine times as much.
- Acceleration
- Coal, or a block of coal.
- Maneuverability
- Glowstone dust, or a glowstone block.
- Levitation
- Feathers, or a phantom membrane for fifty times as much.
- Smash
- An iron or diamond pickaxe: the broom breaks blocks it flies into, harder ones with more. On our server it is on.
- Damage, Flame, Bouncy
- Spikes or quartz, blaze powder, slime balls or slime blocks: what happens to a mob you fly into.
- Toughness, Efficiency
- Stone or obsidian to be pushed around less; Dark Power Gems for a chance to use no Blood.
- Swimming, Icy, Sticky
- Prismarine or a nautilus shell, ice, and seagrass, kelp or honey.
Dungeon, mineshaft, stronghold library and End city chests sometimes hold a ready-made broom.
The Exalted Crafter and other tools
The Exalted Crafter is a crafting table in your pocket: a crafting table, an ender chest, two Crushed Dark Gems, four gold ingots and an iron ingot. Right-click it, or bind its key in Controls, for a 3x3 grid with your ender chest beside it. The Wooden Exalted Crafter takes a wooden chest instead and keeps 27 slots of its own.
With it open, shift and its key spread the grid's items evenly, and a button picks whether items shift-clicked out of the grid go to its own storage or to your inventory. Empowered by lightning, it cannot be destroyed and does not vanish when dropped.
- Vengeance Pickaxe
- Crafted with Fortune V and Curse of Vengeance III already on it, so it calls spirits while you mine. Three diamonds, two Hardened Blood Shards and two Dark Sticks.
- Blood Pearl of Teleportation
- An ender pearl you never lose, paid in Blood.
- Kineticator
- Pulls items and experience to you. Right-click sets the area, shift-right-click switches it.
- Invigorating Pendant
- Clears bad effects and puts out fire for Blood. In ATM10 it fits a charm slot.
- Mace of Distortion
- Hold right-click and release to throw back everything around you. The Mace of Destruction does it with an explosion.
Enchantments: Unusing, Breaking and the Purifier
Unusing goes on anything with durability, at level I only. Once the tool is down to five durability it stops breaking blocks and doing damage, and stays at five until you repair it, so it never breaks in your hand.
EvilCraft files Unusing, Life Stealing and Poison Tip as treasure enchantments, so a plain enchanting table never offers them and neither do villagers or loot. In ATM10 the way to them is Apothic Enchanting: a Deepshelf of Arcane Treasures around your table lets treasure enchantments roll. Unusing is a rare roll.
- Life Stealing
- Weapons, three levels: you heal part of the damage you deal.
- Poison Tip
- Weapons, three levels: a chance to poison. A Bucket of Poison with a book makes a basic one.
- Curse of Breaking
- The opposite of Unbreaking, in three levels. The Blood Chest rarely adds it.
- Curse of Vengeance
- Using the tool calls Vengeance Spirits. The Vengeance Pickaxe has it.
The Purifier removes curses from a tool with a bucket of Blood in it. Full of Blood, it moves one random enchantment from an item to a Blook (a book infused with 500 mB) for three buckets, draws a potion effect off a mob into a glass bottle, and turns a mob head back one step.
Where ATM10 asks for EvilCraft
- Oblivion Shard: a Mace of Destruction holding 4,000 mB of Blood and two Piercing Vengeance Focus. It goes into the ATM Star.
- Philosopher's Fuel: a Dark Tank holding 16,000 mB of Just Dire Things' Eclipse Ember Fuel. It goes into the ATM Star.
- Pulsating Black Hole: a Lightning Bomb, a Lightning Grenade with TNT. It goes into the ATM Star.
- The Automatic Hephaestus Forge takes Blood in most of its recipes, and the Star Altar's controller alone 1,000,000 mB.
- Time in a Bottle: a Vengeance Pickaxe as it comes out of the crafting grid.
- Creative Blood Drop: an ATM Star, four Promise of Tenacity III and a filled Rejuvenated Flesh, Mace of Distortion, Necromancer Staff and Broom.
So late in ATM10 you want Blood by the hundreds of thousands of mB. A tier 3 Blood Infuser, a Sanguinary Pedestal under a Spiked Plate with a mob farm on it, and large Dark Tanks are the way to get there.
Questions
How do I get Hardened Blood in EvilCraft?
Place Blood in the world with a Blood Extractor, somewhere with no water within four blocks and no rain on it. The still source dries into Hardened Blood. Break it with Flint and Steel for five to nine shards, or with Silk Touch and smelt it for nine.
How do I make an EvilCraft broom?
Craft a Bare Rod, Bare Brush and Bare Cap from Dark Sticks and Crushed Dark Gems, optionally change each with a material, and put the three together in a crafting grid. Fill it with Blood in the Blood Infuser and right-click to fly.
What does the Exalted Crafter do?
It is a portable 3x3 crafting grid with your ender chest beside it (or 27 slots of its own, for the wooden one). It opens with a right-click or a key you bind, and lightning makes it indestructible.
How do I get the Unusing enchantment?
It is a treasure enchantment, so in ATM10 it comes from an Apothic Enchanting table with a Deepshelf of Arcane Treasures around it. On a tool it stops the tool at five durability so it never breaks.
Why is my Blood not hardening?
Only still source blocks harden, and only with no water within four blocks and no rain falling on them. Under a roof, or in a dry biome, it happens on its own after a while.
Why does my Blood Infuser not take a recipe?
The recipe's tier is above the machine's. Put a Promise of Tenacity of that tier in its promise slots; it also makes the tank big enough for the 40,000 and 160,000 mB recipes.
Where do I find an Environmental Accumulator?
In Dark Temples on the Overworld surface; it cannot be crafted. Break one for its core and craft the Sanguinary Environmental Accumulator, which works anywhere on Blood.
