Forbidden and Arcanus

Where to start

• Mine Arcane Crystal Ore with an iron pickaxe and Darkstone at the bottom of the world.
• Smelt crystals into Arcane Crystal Dust and craft Mundabitur Dust.
• Craft Deorum Ingots from gold, charcoal and both dusts.
• Cut the darkstone into the forge's three blocks and lay the 9x9 floor.
• Put a Smithing Table in the middle and right-click it with Mundabitur Dust.
• Fill the forge with the four essences, put the ritual's items on the pedestals and hit the forge with a Blacksmith Gavel.

Souls are the slow part early. A Soul Extractor needs an Utrem Jar, which needs Edelwood, and Edelwood needs a Corrupt Soul. Put Soul Looting on a sword first, or buy a Growing Edelwood from a wandering trader.

Arcane Crystal, Rune, Stellarite and Darkstone: where they are

Arcane Crystal

Overworld ore from y 14 down to y -40, most common in the middle of that range. Needs an iron pickaxe; Fortune works. Smelt or blast the ore for one crystal, and the crystal again for dust.

Rune

Runic Stone, Runic Deepslate and Runic Darkstone, from y 2 down to the bottom of the world. Needs a diamond pickaxe; Fortune works.

Stellarite Piece

From Stella Arcanum, a rare ore between y 42 and y -44. Needs a diamond pickaxe and explodes when broken without Silk Touch, radius 3 on our server. Nine pieces make a Stellarite Block.

Darkstone

Large veins in the bottom 14 blocks of the Overworld, so y -64 to y -51. Every multiblock of the mod is made of it.

In ATM10 the Mining dimension has Runic Stone and Arcane Crystal Ore from y 65 to y 250, and Stella Arcanum everywhere from y -63 up, in stone, deepslate, end stone and netherrack.

Deorum Ingot

A gold ingot, four charcoal, two Arcane Crystal Dust and two Mundabitur Dust. Used in the forge blocks, tier 3 and Golden Dragon Scales.

Obsidiansteel Ingot

Raw iron and obsidian smelted together in the Clibano, with an Artisan Relic in its enhancer slot. Used for the Dark Nether Star, Corrupti Dust, the Obsidian Skull and Draco Arcanus armour.

Dark Nether Star

A Nether Star with four Obsidiansteel Ingots around it. Two go into the tier 5 forge. It is in the #c:nether_stars tag, so recipes that take that tag accept it too.

Mundabitur Dust: the dust that builds things

Mundabitur Dust is crafted four at a time from Arcane Crystal Dust, redstone, blaze powder, bone meal, a phantom membrane and gunpowder. Right-clicked on the right block of a finished structure, it turns the structure into a working one and is used up.

Hephaestus Forge

Click the Smithing Table in the middle of the forge floor.

Arcane Crystal Obelisk

Click a tower of Arcane Polished Darkstone with two Arcane Crystal Blocks on top.

Clibano

Click the Clibano Core in the side of the 3x3x3 darkstone shell.

Charged creeper

Click a creeper. On by default, and on in our server's config.

It is also an ingredient: Deorum Ingots, Quantum Cores, the Quantum Injector, and in ATM10 the runic multiblocks and the ATM Star.

Building the Hephaestus Forge

The floor is a 9x9 square with its corners cut off: 45 Polished Darkstone, 9 Gilded Chiseled Polished Darkstone and 4 Chiseled Arcane Polished Darkstone. One gilded block is the centre, with the four chiseled arcane blocks around it; the other eight gilded blocks sit in a ring around them. ATM10's quest book shows the layout with a picture.

• Polished Darkstone: four Darkstone make four.
• Gilded Chiseled Polished Darkstone: a Chiseled Polished Darkstone (two Polished Darkstone Slabs) and a Deorum Nugget.
• Chiseled Arcane Polished Darkstone: two Arcane Polished Darkstone Slabs. Eight Polished Darkstone around a Deorum Ingot make eight Arcane Polished Darkstone.
• Darkstone Pedestal: three Arcane Polished Darkstone Slabs, an Arcane Polished Darkstone Pillar and three Polished Darkstone.

Put a Smithing Table on the centre block and right-click it with Mundabitur Dust; it becomes a tier 1 Hephaestus Forge. The layer above the floor must be empty except for the forge and up to eight pedestals, one on each outer gilded block. The forge only works on its floor, but it can be broken and placed again without losing its tier.

An Arcane Crystal Obelisk can stand on a gilded block instead of a pedestal. There it adds 1 Aureal to the forge every 5 seconds; anywhere else it does nothing.

The four essences: Aureal, Souls, Blood and Experience

The forge has a slot for each essence. Items put in it are turned into that essence up to the forge's limit, which grows with its tier.

Aureal

Aureal Bottles give 35, splash ones 30. A bottle is eight Arcane Crystal Dust around a Potion of Regeneration II, and dungeon chests hold some. Obelisks add 1 every 5 seconds.

Souls

A Soul or Corrupt Soul gives 1, an Enchanted Soul 10. A Soul Extractor held on Soul Sand pulls one Soul out and leaves Soulless Sand.

Blood

Anything hurt within 5 blocks of the forge gives 20 per point of health it loses. Or hold a Test Tube in your off hand while hitting mobs: 20 per point of damage, up to 3,000, then empty it into the forge.

Experience

An Xpetrified Orb gives 91, a Bottle o' Enchanting 15. An enchanted item put in the slot loses its enchantments (not its curses) for experience.

Tier 1

1,000 Aureal, 10 Souls, 10,000 Blood, 900 Experience. One enhancer slot.

Tier 2

3,000 Aureal, 50 Souls, 15,000 Blood, 1,350 Experience. Two enhancer slots.

Tier 3

5,000 Aureal, 100 Souls, 30,000 Blood, 2,500 Experience. Three enhancer slots.

Tier 4

10,000 Aureal, 500 Souls, 50,000 Blood, 5,000 Experience. Four enhancer slots.

Tier 5

20,000 Aureal, 1,000 Souls, 100,000 Blood, 7,500 Experience. Four enhancer slots.

Running a ritual, and the forge tiers

• Fill the essences the ritual needs; JEI shows them, and the forge tier it needs.
• Put the main item in the forge's middle slot and the other items on the pedestals.
• Put any required relic in an enhancer slot.
• Right-click the forge with a Blacksmith Gavel. Each ritual costs the gavel 50 durability.

A gavel is a Blacksmith Gavel Head (six clay balls) with four planks, cobblestone, gold, iron or diamonds and two sticks; the netherite one comes from the diamond one in a smithing table. It also mines like a pickaxe, and ores mined with it have a 30% chance to drop twice as much (not with Silk Touch).

Tier 1 to 2

Edelwood Planks in the middle, four Arcane Crystals and four Spawner Scrap. 500 Aureal, 6,000 Blood, 10 Souls.

Tier 2 to 3

Chiseled Polished Darkstone in the middle, four Arcane Crystals and four Deorum Ingots. 1,000 Aureal, 9,000 Blood, 50 Souls.

Tier 3 to 4

Chiseled Polished Darkstone in the middle, four Stellarite Pieces and four Runes. 2,000 Aureal, 12,000 Blood, 100 Souls.

Tier 4 to 5

A Stellarite Block in the middle, four Sculk Catalysts, two Dark Nether Stars and two Dragon Scales. 5,000 Aureal, 20,000 Blood, 500 Souls.

An upgrade ritual only runs on the tier just below it. Spawner Scrap drops from a monster spawner broken without Silk Touch.

Relics: the forge's enhancers

Relics go in the enhancer slots around the middle slot. Some lower a ritual's cost, some are required by certain rituals. None can be crafted.

Artisan Relic

Rituals cost a quarter less Experience. In the Clibano it allows Obsidiansteel. Found in village armorer, toolsmith and weaponsmith chests (28%), or 18 emeralds from a wandering trader.

Crimson Stone

Rituals cost half the Souls. Pillager outpost chests, 18%.

Elementarium

Required for the Smelter, Terrastomp, Sea and Whirlwind Prisms. Jungle temple, desert pyramid and underwater ruin chests, 21%.

Divine Pact

Required for the Soul Binding Crystal. ATM10 adds it to Allthemodium's chest loot; its quest book sends you to The Other's Piglin Villages and Ancient Pyramids.

Maledictus Pact

Bastion treasure chests, 18%. No ritual of the mod needs it; ATM10's Star Altar ritual does.

ATM10 adds a tier 3 ritual that doubles a relic: the relic in the middle, four Obsidiansteel Blocks and four ingots (Deorum for the Artisan Relic, Allthemodium for Elementarium, Vibranium for the Crimson Stone, Unobtainium for the Divine Pact), with 1,000 Aureal, 1,000 Blood, 100 Souls and 100 Experience. The Crescent Moon and Soul Crimson Stone have no way to get them in this pack.

Modifiers: Eternal Stella and the prisms

A modifier is put on in a smithing table: an Apply Modifier Smithing Template (eight Darkstone around a Netherite Upgrade template), the item, and the modifier's ingredient. Every ingredient but the template is made in the forge.

Eternal Stella

Eternal: any item with durability stops taking damage. Not on items with Unbreaking or Mending, nor on elytra. In ATM10 the ritual takes an Allthemodium Ingot, three Xpetrified Orbs and a Stellarite Piece at tier 3.

Smelter Prism

Fiery, on pickaxes, axes, shovels and hoes: what they break comes out smelted. Not with Silk Touch. Arcane Crystal Block, two coal, four blaze powder, Elementarium, any tier.

Terrastomp Prism

Demolishing, on the same tools: breaks a 3x3 on the face you mine, only blocks of the same kind. Block of Diamond, flint, dripstone blocks and pointed dripstone, Elementarium, tier 2.

Sea Prism

Aquatic, on helmets: full mining speed while swimming, and 1 heart back every 5 seconds underwater. Heart of the Sea, prismarine shards, turtle scutes and lapis, Elementarium, tier 3.

Ferrognetic Mixture

Magnetized, on boots: picks up items within about 2.5 blocks. A lodestone, clay, wax, slime and an iron ingot, any tier.

Soul Binding Crystal

Soulbound, on tools and armour: kept when you die. Quartz, one of each soul, amethyst and ender pearl fragments, Divine Pact, tier 4.

The Whirlwind Prism (white wool, a bat wing, feathers and phantom membranes, Elementarium, tier 3) is not a modifier. In ATM10 the four prisms and the Soul Binding Crystal each go into an ATM Star fragment.

Edelwood: growing the tree, oil and buckets

Edelwood does not generate in the world. It grows from Growing Edelwood: right-click an Oak Sapling or a Dead Bush with a Corrupt Soul, or buy one from a wandering trader for 6 emeralds. It grows on its own with light level 9 or more above it, and bone meal has a 45% chance per use.

The tree is a trunk of hollow Edelwood Logs with a carved log on top and Edelwood Branches on the sides, which drop Edelwood Sticks. A log makes two planks. Rain slowly fills upright logs with water, and an axe carves an upright log.

Logs turn oily by themselves now and then. Right-click an oily log with a glass bottle for Edelwood Oil; one bottle makes two black dye. A log in a furnace makes Dark Matter.

The Edelwood Bucket is five planks in a bucket shape. It holds four buckets of water or milk, or three of lava. Empty ones stack to 16. Edelwood Ladders climb twice as fast as normal ones by default.

Dark Matter and Corrupti Dust dropped on the ground together open a Black Hole. It pulls in items, arrows and experience orbs within 5 blocks and destroys them, and every 60 experience it swallows comes back as an Xpetrified Orb.

The Clibano furnace

A 3x3x3 hollow cube: Polished Darkstone on the eight corners, Polished Darkstone Bricks everywhere else, and a Clibano Core (eight Darkstone around a blast furnace) in the middle of one side. Leave the centre empty and right-click the core with Mundabitur Dust.

It has two input slots: it smelts like a furnace and makes alloys from two inputs, such as Obsidiansteel. A Soul or Corrupt Soul in its soul slot lights soul fire, 1.5 times as fast for 2,700 ticks; an Enchanted Soul lights enchanted fire, 2.5 times as fast. Only in those fires do recipes leave residues, a 33% chance each time.

Dragon scales, Draco Arcanus and Tyr armour, the Arcane Dragon Egg

The Ender Dragon drops one to three Dragon Scales, more with Looting, and End City treasure chests hold one or two 56% of the time. The other scales are crafted from one:

• Golden Dragon Scale: four Deorum Ingots around a scale.
• Silver Dragon Scale: four Arcane Crystal Dust and four iron ingots around a scale.
• Aquatic Dragon Scale: a scale, a prismarine shard, prismarine crystals and Arcane Crystal Dust.

Draco Arcanus armour is netherite armour put through a tier 2 ritual with Dragon Scales and Obsidiansteel Ingots. Tyr armour is Draco Arcanus armour at tier 4 with Aquatic and Golden Dragon Scales, and costs the most essence of any ritual.

The Arcane Dragon Egg is a Dragon Egg with six Golden Dragon Scales around it. It is a decoration: it glows faintly, falls like sand, and no recipe in ATM10 uses it.

Other useful items

Quantum Catcher

Right-click a mob to carry it, again to let it out. Catching costs Aureal from your own meter, about the mob's maximum health; bosses are refused. A ritual: a Quantum Core and four Spawner Scrap.

Boss Catcher

The same for bosses, not players. A Quantum Catcher, a Nether Star and three Stellarite Pieces at tier 4.

Obsidian Skull

A helmet that gives fire resistance. Eight Obsidiansteel Ingots around a skeleton skull. Every 8 to 13 seconds you spend burning it wears one stage, through cracked, fragmented and fading; two Obsidiansteel Ingots repair one stage.

Spectral Eye Amulet

Right-click to switch it on; while it is in your inventory, mobs show through walls. A Nether Star, an eye of ender, two Deorum Ingots and string.

Arcane Bone Meal

Grows a plant fully in one use. On farmland it makes Magical Farmland, where crops drop twice as much. Four bone meal and Arcane Crystal Dust make four.

What ATM10 changes

Lost Souls

They never spawn on their own in ATM10. Kill with Soul Looting instead, which ATM10's Apotheosis lets go to level VIII.

Eternal Stella

The ritual takes an Allthemodium Ingot where the mod has a diamond.

Relics

Four rituals double a relic, and the Divine Pact is in Allthemodium's chest loot.

Allthemodium Alloy tools

Forge rituals: an Unobtainium tool with Eternal Stellas, the three dragon scales and alloy ingots at tier 4. The Alloy Paxel needs tier 5.

Runic multiblocks

The controllers of the Automatic Hephaestus Forge, Runic Crucible, Runic Enchanter and Star Altar come from tier 5 forge rituals. The Automatic Forge runs rituals on liquid Aureal, liquid souls, blood and liquid experience.

ATM Star

Each of its five fragments takes one of the four prisms or the Soul Binding Crystal in the Star Altar. An Eternal Stella goes into the Oblivion Shard.

Theurgy

The Incubator makes Arcane Crystals, Stellarite Pieces and Runes from their sulfur.
